This week, Vice-President of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) Kalle Laanet is on a visit in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he will meet with high-ranking representatives of the state and deliver a report on stopping the spread of disinformation at the International Humanitarian Forum.
On Friday, Laanet will deliver a report focusing on preventing the spread of false information at the Baku International Humanitarian Forum. In Laanet’s opinion, those who publish their information first have an advantage. He also said that it was hard for small countries to stand alone in the fight against the false information of large countries, and cooperation with allies was necessary.
Laanet thinks that besides Ukraine and Georgia, cooperation in the framework of the Eastern Partnership should also be extended to Azerbaijan. During the visit, the Vice-President of the Riigikogu will meet representatives of the government of Azerbaijan. Today he will have a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov. “Estonia is open to sharing its experience with the Eastern Partnership countries, and also organize
training programmes for diplomats and research activities for studying the Eastern Partnership,” Laanet said.
The visit of the Vice-President of the Riigikogu will last until Saturday, 27 October.
